Looking ahead - Greenisland Baptist Church Building project
Greenisland Baptist Church exists to be a fellowship committed to growing disciples who love God and Love People. Such a vision is not our attempt to re-invent the wheel; this is the heart of God, the blueprint which He has laid down for us in His word. We as a church have absolute confidence in His designs, not our own.
As we consider the possibility of a new church building these two goals provide us a lens through which we can pray, engage and give in accordance to God’s leading. In other words the question we really ought to ask is not why but how…how might a new building help us to love God and love people better?
In terms of loving God -
A new building will serve to enhance our worship
In terms of loving people -
A new building will serve to encourage our fellowship and expand our ministries
A church building should serve the vision of the church; it will not fulfill the vision (that’s our job as we follow God’s call). Our present facility does not do this. It is a place dear to our hearts because God provided it when it was much needed, but God has seen fit to keep growing the work here and now this present building is in many senses hindering our worship, restricting our fellowship and proving inadequate for much of our ministry.
Both individually and as a church this building campaign presents real challenges in terms of our commitments and real opportunities in terms of our growth in faith. As you prayerfully digest the information in this newsletter let me encourage you to go back to the blueprint again and again – it has got to be about Loving Him and Loving His People As we keep God’s designs in mind I am confident He will give us all we need to respond in the trust and obedience He requires of us.
“To him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in (our) church”. Ephesians 3:20-21
